Since my wife, Terri, was a little girl, one of her wildest dreams was to one-day experience a magical vacation to Hawaii. When I married Terri, the girl of my dreams, I told her that I would show her the world. Following through with my promise, I’ve taken her to China, Norway, the Caribbean, and Alaska, but the dream destination from her childhood still called out to…

Summary
On August 19th, 2009 my wife and I flew from Minneapolis to Chicago, then to Beijing, China, to participate in a cruise / tour adventure with Viking River Cruises, and their Imperial Jewels of China 12-day excursion. This excursion included six nights in luxury hotels and five nights on their river vessel called the Viking Century Sun. We flew into Beijing and spent three nights in the Raffles Hotel, then we flew to Xian (pronounced ‘She Hon’) and stayed in the Shangri-La…

Early morning June 17th we packed our bags, my wife Terri and I, and my son Jacob departed Minneapolis non-stop for Vancouver to embark on an Alaska cruise adventure aboard Regent’s Seven Seas Mariner. I have been on about 300 cruises over the years, I love being at sea, I love cruising, and enjoy every chance I get to be on a cruise ship, so this opportunity to cruise on the upscale luxury
Seven Seas Mariner in a penthouse suite was without question a delight and a…

With Barry's recent cruise on NORWEGIAN PEARL, it made me think of our cruises on the ship that helped grow the cruise industry into what it is today, the SS NORWAY.
I thought I'd post a few photos of NORWAY and remember her the way she was. Latest photos from Alang India show her scrapping to be nearly complete.

I wish I would have kept a writing blog during the cruise on the Norwegian Pearl, but I was too busy, and I don't have a lap top yet. I did complete the editing of the Norwegian Pearl Experience for Cruising Authority so if you haven't listened to the show, I want to encourage you to do so, because we have some nice interviews with key people on the ship like the Captain and the Cruise Director. This cruise on the Noregian Pearl was interesting for me, because I had not been on an NCL ship in a…

In October get ready for a show on Cruising Authority that will highlight NCL's Freestyle Experience. We're also going to make a big announcement in October so you're in for a treat! Soon we are going to begin to take Cruising Authority to the next level, and I'm sure our listeners will enjoy the changes. October 19th, your host for Cruising Authority will embark on yet another cruise aboard NCL's Norwegian Pearl. I have not been on the newer NCL vessels, so this will be an interesting…

It was a short cruise out of New York City aboard a brand new ship called the Eurodam, Holland America's first Signature-Class vessel. I brought my wife, who has never been to New York so I was thrilled to show her around the usual spots like Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge, ground zero, the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. It was a whirl wind trip, but well coordinated like a fine time-piece. Cruising Authority the Talkshow has become the most listened-to cruise-related…

Terri and I are getting excited about our trip to New York when we board the brand new Signature-class vessel with Holland America called the Eurodam! I'm going to be sure to blog here during the trip so you can have a blow-by-blow account of what happens on this cruise, along with my impressions of the ship. So if you keep up with reading this blog, you'll be the first to hear about the cruise, even before our show is released on September 4th. We have some other surprises to share as we…

Why did I start this talkshow? First of all, I love to talk about the cruise industry, and talk with those who are involved with the cruise industry. If you've never been on a cruise...I like to talk with you too! It all started when a buddy of mine from college invited me to be a guest on his talkshow. I enjoyed the interview, and thought to myself, hey, I can do that. It wasn't long before I began to experiment with some interviews. My first interview was with a long-time friend of mine who I…
